Interview with The Desert Fox!

  I hope everyone had a wonderful  Christmas!!! I have some super exciting news in that I got The Desert Fox to interview on my blog which is totally awesome because I adore her blog so much! She has such an effortless style  which I adore! Hope you enjoy the interview :-) xx

Question 1 (it's not really a question) - tell me a little more about yourself eg where are you from, when did you first start blogging, what got you interested in it
I lived in Holland for thirteen years, where my interest in fashion really developed because of this Elle Girl forum that I was on, and I was always inspired by other people posting their outifts. I moved back to the United States a few years ago and that's when I decided to start blogging, just as a way to pass time.

Question 2) Do you have a fashion icon(s) and why do they inspire you?

Not really a single person, but most of my inspiration is drawn from fellow bloggers. Lately menswear inspires me too. I'm not sure why, but it's just a lot more accessible and 'real' :)

Question 3) What are your must have wardrobe items for a)winter and b)summer.

a. Winter: A good faux fur collar! I purchased one last week and I'm obsessed with it. It makes every outfit instantly chic and it keeps you warm
Summer: A good pair of sunglasses. Can be a classic shaped one or a funky and hip one-- perfect accessory and protects your eyes from the sun.

Question 4) Do clothing brands matter to you and if so, who is your favourite fashion designer?

Not really, but I think it's mostly because I can't afford it. I love looking at designers for inspiration but would never think of purchasing it (for now). Favorite designers are Proenza Schouler, Alex Wang, Rodarte and Calvin Klein.

Question 5) Aside from fashion is there external sources that influence your blog (eg music, film, art)
Film! I love love watching a film and being so inspired by the character that I want to dress like that person. I think that your wardrobe should tell a story, and that is why costume design is so inspiring because it adds another dimension to a character. Which is why I love fashion, because it creates a part of your identity. I recently re-watched Winter's Bone and I now I just want to dress like them all the time.

Question 6) Living in San Diego and San Francisco would you say the 'California style' has rubbed off on your own or is your style completely different from those around you?
I think the effortlessness and ease that defines the 'California style' definitely has rubbed off on me! When I lived in Europe, I dressed a lot more 'formal'-- wearing heels to school etc, but after moving here I definitely had to adjust to the more casual style. But I can appreciate it now. People still think that I dress 'different', especially in high school, but I took it as a compliment.

 Question 7) Where is your favourite place on earth to visit and why has it left such a big impact.
Probably Berlin! It was just a great city and I went there with all of my best friends and it was just such an eye-opening experience. The city has so much to offer and I love the vibe of that place. But maybe it is just because I live in the U.S right now and every European country is probably my favorite place because I am a little homesick. But I love San Francisco too. It's probably the most interesting and diverse place I've ever been to.

Question 8) Favourite film(s) and style of music and songs (just in case we want to broaden our playlist! )

Favorite films: Requiem for a dream, Blue Valentine, The lives of others, Winter's Bone, An Education
And as for music, I love everything. Currently really loving: The Weeknd, James Vincent McMorrow, American Royalty, Tyler the Creator and Pearl Jam

Question 9) And finally, on your photos, your hair and skin always looks to be in a perfect condition. Is there any particular beauty and lifestyle tips you can give my readers?

Ah why thank you! I think it's the photos-- it's really not in perfect condition! I have tons of split ends because of the whole ombre thing! And I also am really unhealthy :/ But I do try to exercise and drink a lot of water? I am actually looking for tips myself!
